HRH King Charles III fires Ceremonial Gun and Strengthens Military Bonds at Larkhill Garrison
On 6 June 2025, King Charles III made a highly anticipated visit to the Royal Regiment of Artillery at Larkhill Garrison in Wiltshire, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the British armed forces. The visit began with a stirring 21-gun salute and a Royal Salute by a Guard of Honour, powerful symbols of the longstanding relationship between the monarchy and the military.
The Royal Regiment of Artillery, based at Larkhill, is the backbone of the British Army’s artillery capabilities, providing crucial firepower support across a wide range of operations. In the Officers Mess, The King met a variety of soldiers and heard about the Royal Artillery’s institution and heritage. His Majesty was shown artillery uniform of his ancestor King George V in the regimental museum.The Royal Regiment of Artillery was founded in 1716 and is believed to have served in every conflict the British Army has been involved with. The 14 regular regiments and 7 reserve regiments are also known as the ‘Gunners’.To commemorate

The King’s first visit as Captain General, His Majesty was presented with an engraved 105mm Cartridge which was fired during Their Majesties’ Coronation as a gift from the Royal Regiment. Outside, His Majesty viewed equipment used by the Regiment, including drones, the Royal Artillery’s new gun “The Archer”, the multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), and the L118 Light Gun, which His Majesty fired.

Beyond ceremonial duties, King Charles spent significant time engaging warmly with senior officers, frontline troops, and the families of soldiers recently returned from deployment.
