Sao Jose de Macapa Church, Macapa, State of Amapa, Brazil

Built over 200 years ago, Sao Jose de Macapa Church marked the colonization of the city of Macapa. This church is rather small and simple, but it has much historical significance for this town. There is a unique image of the patron saint, St. Joseph, carved out of wood along with beautiful paintings on the walls depicting the artistry of biblical passages. Facing the amazon, this church is perfect for quiet contemplation and some rest. Attend on the mass services, which happen daily.
