Rheintreppe

Wide steps on the Rhine promenade, popular as a place to hang out, drink beers & admire the sunset. The Düsseldorfer Kö enjoys world fame, but it is by no means the only promenade in the city. The Rhine promenade, designed by architect Niklaus Fritschi between 1990 and 1997, is also very popular. No wonder, since the promenade between the old town and the river has a lot to offer: mild breezes and spectacular sunsets, gourmet festivals, a flight of steps to linger together and urban beach furniture. The prerequisite for the one and a half kilometer quality of life was the construction of the Rhine bank tunnel. Original Düsseldorfers, who know the situation from earlier times, still congratulate themselves today on the fact that the traffic that flowed parallel to the river here before 1990 now flows underground.
