Rebekah Brooks was appointed Chief Executive of News UK in September 2015, having first joined the company in 1989 as a feature writer for the News of the World. Brooks rose through the ranks, becoming Editor of The Sun in 2003. During her tenure, The Sun maintained its leading position in the UK popular sector, boosting its circulation and reach. Brooks was a driving force behind significant campaigns, including Help for Heroes and ‘Sarah’s Law.’ From 2009 to 2011, she served as Chief Executive of News International, where she oversaw growth in operating profit and pioneered digital subscriptions for The Times.
Returning as CEO in 2015, Brooks reshaped The Sun’s online strategy and drove audience growth. She also facilitated the acquisition of Wireless, expanding the company’s audio capabilities with national radio brands such as talkSPORT and Virgin Radio. Brooks is also a Director of News Group Newspapers and Times Newspapers, and a Non-Executive Director of PA Group.
Born in Warrington, England, in 1968, Brooks began her journalism career at the Warrington Guardian before joining News of the World in 1989. Her talent and determination led her to become the youngest editor of a British national newspaper at the age of 31 when she took the helm of News of the World in 2000.
Brooks’ career highlights include her impactful editorial leadership at The Sun and her successful return as CEO of News UK, where she has navigated the company through the digital age. Her journey exemplifies resilience and adaptability, making her a prominent figure in British media and an inspiring leader in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

A faithful recorder of the times for more than 200 years. It is authoritative, credible, responsible, trusted and a part of the nation’s cultural heritage. A premium British brand, recognised the world over. But The Times is also a fast-moving, highly-creative, multi-channel media operation which has a long heritage of modernity, of being first, of breaking through, of creating change. It is an informer, an entertainer, a campaigner, an innovator and an agenda-setter that has always had the capacity to surprise. From William Howard Russell to Caitlin Moran. From hot lead to cold type. From Times New Roman to The Times on iPad. The Times possesses the unique ability to push boundaries, embrace new technologies but remember old traditions.
The Sun is more than a newspaper. It is an instigator, an entertainer, a cultural reference point, a finger on the pulse, a daily relationship.Read by more than ten million readers in the UK every week, the country reaches for The Sun when they need to discover, debate, understand, decide, laugh, cry, act or fight. The people of Britain work hard for what they have and The Sun works hard to give them something memorable. That makes an impact, inspires a reaction, raises the pulse. It’s brave, bold and bawdy. Caring, clear and concise. The Sun makes life simpler, richer and more sensational. Every single day.
The leading international forum for literary culture. For more than a hundred years, the TLS has interpreted the work of the finest thinkers in the literary world. The TLS is unafraid of difficulty, challenges intellectual obscurity and brings light, clarity and reason where those qualities have never been needed more. The TLS “has no rivals”, says Le Monde. Its writers are critics and philosophers, historians and poets, interpreters, stimulators, inquirers, all of them arguing for their opinions in an age when opinion is too often delivered without justification of any kind. From ancient to modern, it brings the best current thinking to life, life in every word, on paper, on iPad, online.
