Nicole Michelin Restaurant

A tasteful journey of contemporary cuisine along with the magnificent view of the Old Town. In 1901, the present building was built as the Soeurs Garde-Malades (Nursing Sisters) Apartment where Franciscan nuns lived. The building, which also hosted the Levantine and Greek families until the end of 1920s, had been damaged over the years due to changes in hands and neglect. In the early 2000s, a major restoration work started in the district and thus it became the city’s cultural, artistic, entertainment and gourmet center. The building has been restored with great respect to its origins, giving it an enchanting appearance.

Nicole Restaurant, located on the top floor of the building, is named after one of the former owners of the building, nun Agnés Marthe Nicole. Established with inspiration from the building’s historical past and today’s modern reflections, Nicole Restaurant aims to provide guests unforgettable culinary experiences on its stylish terrace presenting a breathtaking Istanbul view by blending the Traditional Turkish Cuisine concept with a unique contemporary interpretation.
The chef revamps traditional recipes, adding delicate nuances. Take, for example, the dolma, a typical dish of stuffed vegetables, to which smoked yoghurt is added to put a novel spin on the familiar flavours. Then there are the Middle Eastern spices that give an extra dimension to the classic, intensely reduced red wine jus served alongside the butter-soft lamb. Here, creativity is deployed with respect and a sense of purpose.

Contemporary Mediterranean cuisine served at a tranquil modern terrace overlooking the Old Town, Prince Islands and beyond. Couple Chefs Kaan and Aylin head the kitchen, reinterpreting classic flavors with a light and modern touch. The contemporary array of dishes is designed around seasonal produce and changes accordingly. Choose from the six-course Discovery Menu or the seven-course Nicole Menu for dishes like summer salad with watermelon, tomatoes with lent cheese and lamb with kidney beans. Nicole’s wine cellar includes chateau style local wine producers from Aegean, Thrace and Anatolia regions as well as imported varieties.
