Minamishima Japanese Restaurant
Omakase is a culinary experience led by the chef, the produce and the seasons. We offer two dining areas: the counter seating style sushi bar for up to two guests; and the dining room for gatherings of three and above. In both, we serve an omakase of nigiri and Japanese cuisine bound by a common thread — meticulousness, precision, technique and exquisite produce. A procession of deftly sliced, shaped, torched and brushed nigiri, presented on a gleaming lacquered plate. An exploration of tastes and textures; a sensory journey between the oceans of Japan and Australia. A degustation of cooked courses that display traditional culinary techniques. Inspiration is drawn from Japanese haute cuisine and its seasons.
Located on Richmond’s Lord Street, Minamishima is one of Melbourne’s best fine dining Japanese restaurants. Serving up the omakase of Chef Koichi Minamishima, the 40-seat restaurant makes a stunning selection of authentic Japanese dishes. For A$185 per person, you can enjoy a 15-course sushi chef’s selection of omakase or a handful of shared dishes, ten courses of sushi and a dessert. While you might not be able to visit the restaurant at the moment, there’s no need to miss out on Minamishima’s home dining menu. Try a take-home obanzai box with lobster saikyo miso soup, taiyaki and a freshly baked chestnut cheesecake with truffle honey.
