Jerash Museum, Gerasa, Jerash Governorate, Jordan
The first archaeological museum was established in Jerash in 1923, where the vault of the Artemis temple was used to display the archaeological finds found in Jerash, as well as the mosaic paintings. In 1985, the old Jarash restroom was rehabilitated and developed for use as a museum. It launched the first exhibition “Jordan through the Ages”, which contained the best archaeological finds in Jordan, especially in Jerash.
Later on, the museum became one of the archeological finds found in the Jerash area. It was developed from the outside and inside, and new display cabinets were added to it, taking into account the collection of artifacts from different ages. These pieces were displayed in chronological order and according to the daily varieties and uses.
The museum contains a large number of pottery, glass, metals, coins, jewelry, precious stones, statues, marble and stone altars, as well as mosaic paintings from the Jerash area, provided with detailed explanations
