Iron Gate Restaurant

Chef Anthony Chittum’s menus are inspired by his travels through Greece and Italy, and pay homage to many of the incredible local farmers, makers and artisans that hail from the bountiful Mid-Atlantic region. Take a peek at this week’s dishes below, and place your order right here. Don’t forget to add a bottle of wine from our list of over 30 selections, craft beer expertly curated by Beverage Director Greg Engert, or a couple of bottled artisan cocktails from Spirits Director Nick Farrell.

This Dupont Circle spot has a pedigree: it was once a stable to a circa-1875 home, then home to D.C.’s oldest continuously operating restaurant (which closed in 2010). Neighborhood Restaurant Group revived the space, kept the historic touches, and brought in acclaimed chef Tony Chittum. The menu and wine list focus on Mediterranean flavors, like sesame-crusted feta, summer squash arancini, and crispy yeast doughnuts with orange blossom syrup and the space matches. Look up while dining at Iron Gate’s romantic patio, and you’ll see a canopy of greenery, thanks to the restaurant’s 125-year-old wisteria vines.
