The first woman to head the government in the history of Italy, she previously held the positions of vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies from 2006 to 2008 and minister for youth in the fourth Berlusconi government from 2008 to 2011 She was president of Giovane Italia, after having held the same position in Youth Action and Student Action. Not sharing the support given by the People of Freedom to the Monti government, she then left it and founded, together with Ignazio La Russa and Guido Crosetto, the Fratelli d’Italia party, of which she has been president since 8 March 2014. Since 29 September 2020 he has been president of the Conservative and Reformist Party of Europe
