Embassy of the United States of America, Astana, Kazakhstan

Welcome to the U.S. Embassy to Kazakhstan, located in Astana. Astana was officially named the new capital in December 1997 and foreign missions are gradually relocating to Astana year by year.

The embassy includes sections dealing with political/economic issues, consular affairs, administration, and security. Also represented are the Defense Attache Office, the Foreign Commercial Service, Public Affairs and a regional U.S. Agency for International Development office which covers all of Central Asia.

The United States was the first country to recognize Kazakhstan when it declared its independence in December 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union. The U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan was established in 1992 and moved to its current location — Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev Avenue, No. 3., Astana 010010, Kazakhstan — in 2006.
