Conference Centre of Madrid
Located in the heart of Madrid’s financial centre, this emblematic exhibition site, created in 1970, has been the venue for important historical events, such as the counting of votes in Spanish general, municipal and regional elections, the data centre for the Football World Championship in 1982 (held in Spain) or the hosting of the OSCE meeting, which led to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
On the façade of the building, there is a large mosaic by Joan Miró which looks towards the Paseo de la Castellana. The property has a total constructed surface area of almost 8,000m2. It consists of a basement for facilities and a car-park with capacity for more than 30 cars, a mezzanine, which houses the cafeteria and a multi-purpose exhibition hall, and three floors for offices and meeting rooms, including an auditorium of more than 500m2 with interpretation cabins. Its different halls have a wide range of capacities, enabling meetings or conventions to be held for up to 2,000 people.
The commercial activity of the Madrid Conference and Exhibition Centre has been suspended due to its full refurbishment in order to comply with safety regulations and the applicable law. When it is reopened, it will be home to the United Nations World Tourism Office UNWTO.
