Pergamon Museum, Berlin, Germany

The legacy of the ancient kings. Ctesiphon and the Persian sources of Islamic art. The Pergamon Museum is situated on the Museum Island in Berlin. The building was designed by Alfred Messel and Ludwig Hoffmann and was constructed over a period of twenty years, from 1910 to 1930. Today it houses the antique collection , the Middle East Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art . The Pergamonmuseum has become famous all over the world for the imposing reconstruction of archaeological buildings – the Pergamonaltar, the market gate of Miletus, the Ishtar Gate and the procession street of Babylon, Mschatta facade – and has developed into a public magnet of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
