Sulfur baths, Tbilisi, Georgia 

The centuries-old history of muddy bath.

Abanotubani, bathing district is one of the oldest districts of Tbilisi, the river. On the right bank of the Mtkvari River. The name is associated with naturally hot baths that are grown on hot, mineral waters. 

The legend of finding the hot water of Tbilisi and cultivating the city on V. The king of Kartli will sign Vakhtang Gorgasali. X Arab geographer Ibn Huskul notes in “The Way and the Kingdom of the Kings”: “In the city [in Tbilisi] there are baths like Tiberid Baths whose water is sprinkled.” Historical Notes XIII c. There have been 65 bathing mineral water in Tbilisi. In Tbilisi baths we will give you XIII-XIV cc. Venice traveler Marco Polo, XVIII c. Russian merchant Vasil Gagara, as well as Vakhushti Bagrationi, who counts six baths in Tbilisi.
