The name Marakoopa derives from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘handsome’ and this cave well and truly lives up to its moniker, featuring delicate stalactites and stalagmites, glowworms, sparkling crystals and reflective pools. Two tours are available here. The easy Underground Rivers & Glowworms Tour (adult/child $19/9.50, four-times daily October to May, three-times daily June September) is for all ages, visiting the lower chamber with its crystals, reflection pools, stalactites and stalagmites.. The Great Cathedral & Glowworms Tour (adult/child $19/9.50, 11am, 1pm & 3pm) is more challenging, with a stairway ascent to the vast cavern known as Great Cathedral.
