Zoca Restaurant
Why Zoka? The restaurant is named after the drummer in which it is located: Zoca Flank. The battery’s unusual name comes from the Arabic name for a market, soko. A meat market (soko) existed around the battery area from at least the 17th century and was used as such until the 19th century when the slaughterhouse was moved to the eastern part of the neutral ground between Gibraltar and Spain. Famous for its Mediterranean salads and relaxed evening ambiance.
Por qué Zoca? El restaurante lleva el nombre del baterista en el que se encuentra: Zoca Flank. El nombre inusual de la batería proviene del nombre árabe de un mercado, soko. Existió un mercado de carne (soko) alrededor de la zona de la batería desde al menos el siglo XVII y se utilizó como tal hasta el siglo XIX, cuando el matadero se trasladó a la parte este del terreno neutral entre Gibraltar y España.
