Yeni Cuma Camii, İzmit, Kocaeli, Turkey

This mosque is one of the sections of the Pertev Mehmet Pasha Complex located in Kocaeli Yeni Cuma Mahallesi, next to the old Istanbul-Ankara Karayolun. It is also known as New Friday Mosque among the public. After the death of Pertev Mehmet Pasha, the foundation of the mosque was laid in 1572 and the building community was completed in 1579. The Külliye is the work of Mimar Sinan.

The mosque has a rectangular plan close to the square and is covered with a central dome. The dome clearly reveals itself in the upper cover, except for the passage glass that makes the transition. The central dome is reinforced with half-domes. 24 places surrounding the dome of the dome all around and on the side walls of the mihrab wall with a total of 14 windows looking at the place from the four to twelve and two to the last congregation. The absence of a place in the place of worship is an example that is not encountered in those days. There are writing friezes and pencil works between the windows of the glass. Hatayi and rumilere widely used in these pen works. In addition to marble work in the glass, woodworking is also advanced.

The marble altar and the minbar are covered with geometric ornaments. The stalactites and geometrical figures on these are very beautifully processed and show a different and fine workmanship that can not be encountered in other Ottoman minerals.
