Xiangshan Wetlands, Xiangshan District, Hsinchu City, Taiwán

The Xiangshan intertidal zone between the Guanyaxikou and Namgang Wuminggou was formally listed as part of the “East Asian Waterbird Protection Network” at the International Ramsar Convention in 1996 , and is also an important name for the BirdLife International. Wild birds conserve habitats. The district originally planned to fill land and make land, and it was cancelled after long-term protests by the preservation community. In 2001 , it was announced as an important habitat for wild animals in the creeks of the Yalukou and Xiangshan, as well as a coastal wildlife conservation area in the city of Hsinchu.

From the north to the south, there are the Keya River Estuary Wetland, Sanxing Gongxi and Da Zhuang Xikou Grassow Wetland, Xiangshan Mudflat Wetland, Haishanyi Mangrove Wetland and Nangang Beach. The muddy intertidal zone is about 2 kilometers long, and the accumulated organic matter is the energy source of the foundation of the detritus food network. It breeds a large number of shrimp and crab snails, attracting a large number of waterbirds to feed and inhabit.
