Woolwich Foot Tunnel
The Woolwich foot tunnel crosses under the River Thames in Woolwich, in East London from Old Woolwich in the Royal Borough of Greenwich to North Woolwich in the London Borough of Newham. The tunnel offers pedestrians and cyclists an alternative way to cross the river when the Woolwich Free Ferry service is not operating
Our two foot tunnels at Greenwich and Woolwich are used by 1.5 million people a year (around 1.2 million in Greenwich and 300,000 in Woolwich). Both foot tunnels are open 24 hours daily There are stairs and lifts at each entrance. Cyclists must dismount, without exception, when using the tunnels. Please note that in the event of either of the tunnels being closed users may use the DLR at cost: During peak travel periods, however, cyclists may be denied access onto the DLR.
