Wasootch Ridge Trailhead

Wasootch Ridge, located in Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park within Kananaskis Country, offers a challenging and rewarding hike. The trailhead is situated off Highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail), approximately 17 kilometers south of the Trans-Canada Highway. The hike spans approximately 13.4 kilometers round-trip, with an elevation gain of about 931 meters, making it suitable for experienced hikers. The route features multiple peaks, providing stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The trail is accessible year-round, though conditions can vary with the seasons. It’s advisable to check trail reports before heading out, especially during winter when weather can change rapidly. The area is equipped with basic amenities, including picnic tables. A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required for parking at the Wasootch Day Use Area.
