Wardie Bay is a charming, lesser-known beach nestled between Granton Harbour and Newhaven in Edinburgh. This small sandy cove, approximately 150 meters in length, is a favorite among locals seeking a peaceful coastal retreat. Despite its modest size, the bay offers a variety of activities, including wild swimming, rock pooling, and scenic walks along the breakwater.
The bay is particularly popular with wild swimmers, thanks to its sheltered location and relatively calm waters. The Wardie Bay Wild Ones, a community group, regularly gathers for swims and has been instrumental in advocating for the bay’s recognition as a designated bathing water. While the area has not yet received official status, it boasts a Clean Water Certificate, reflecting the community’s commitment to maintaining water quality
