Vista Chinesa

A Chinese-style pagoda lookout point in the Tijuca Forest National Park. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but the effort is well worth it for the spectacular, unique view of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Ipanema and Leblon beaches. Vista Chinesa, or “Chinese View,” is a beautiful and somewhat unexpected lookout point located deep within the Tijuca Forest National Park. The viewpoint is a striking Chinese-style pagoda that was built in the early 20th century as a tribute to Chinese immigrants who worked on the local plantations. The architecture is a fascinating and unique blend of Chinese and Brazilian styles, and it stands as a testament to the cultural diversity that helped build the city.

The true highlight of the Vista Chinesa is the breathtaking panoramic view it offers. From its elevated position, you can see the stunning sweep of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Ipanema and Leblon beaches, and the lush forest all around you. It’s a fantastic spot for a quiet moment of reflection and a great photo opportunity. The hike or drive to the lookout is part of the experience, taking you through the cool, dense forest and rewarding you with one of the most picturesque vistas in Rio.
