Vindhellavegen, Lærdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway 

Vindhelleveien is an old road section in Borgund in Lærdal in Sogn og Fjordane . The 2.7 km long road crosses the shadow Vindhella between Kirkjevoll and Husum, and was built in 1842 – 43 . The road was in use until 1872 , when a new road outside the crowd was opened. Local is called the road Vindhellavegen. Historically, it is argued that the road originally called Vinhella.

The first road in the area was used by King Sverre as he rode through Lærdal with his follow in 1177 . The ride road went around the mountain Client a little further south of the valley, and was called Sverreigen after the king.

In 1793 the first road through Vindhella was opened. This road was extremely steep, with an increase of up to 1: 4, ie 25%. This party was part of the first road for horse and carriage through Lærdal, the Belgian royal road . However, the road in Vindhella was too steep for horse and carriage, so a new road was built in the area, which was completed in 1843.
