Villa Hügel

The Villa Hügel in Essen was the home of the Krupp family of entrepreneurs from 1873 to 1945. With its 399 rooms in the middle of a 28-hectare park above Lake Baldeney, it is much more than the residence of a well-known entrepreneurial family – it is a symbol of Germany’s age of industrialization.

A symbol that you can see, walk and experience, because Villa Hügel and the park with its numerous paths and sculptures are open to the public. A permanent exhibition in the so-called “Little House” informs you about the history of the family and the Krupp company. The Krupp Historical Archive is also located there, with its extensive holdings a contact point for researchers from home and abroad.

Today the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation is the owner of Villa Hügel.
