Venosa, PZ, Italy

Venosa lies in northern Basilicata, at the foot of the extinct volcano Monte Vulture, not far from the city of Melfi. It is a small town with ancient origins and a colourful past; this jewel has been named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and has significant cultural and historical value. The ancient town of ‘Venusia‘ meaning town of ‘Venus‘ was one of the largest Roman colonies, and is the birthplace of one of the greatest Roman poets – Horace; 65-8 BC.
