Varden View Point, Kristiansund, More og Romsdal, Norway

With its 78 metres above sea level, Varden is the highest point on Kirkelandet, and only 10-15 minutes by foot from the town centre. Varden is an old watch tower used in times of hostility and as a watch tower for ships’ pilots in times of peace. A copy of the old tree tower was given to the city in 1992 by previous residents of Kristiansund, now living in Oslo.

From the top of the tower; a 360-degree view of the shipping fairway, Grip, all of Kristiansund, the fjords, mountains.
