Centerm Terminal, short for Centennial Terminals, is a major container port located on the south shore of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighborhood. As one of the four container terminals at the Port of Vancouver, along with Vanterm, Deltaport, and Fraser Surrey Docks, Centerm plays a crucial role in facilitating trade between Canada and international markets. The terminal features two berths with a total length of 647 meters and a depth of 15.5 meters, equipped with seven ship-to-shore cranes. It is directly served by both Canadian Class 1 Railways, CN and CPKC, ensuring efficient rail connectivity.
In 2023, Centerm completed a significant expansion project, adding 15% to its footprint and increasing its annual throughput capacity from 900,000 to 1.5 million TEUs. This $350 million expansion enhances the terminal’s ability to handle growing container traffic, reinforcing its position as a key player in Canada’s trade infrastructure. Centerm Terminal is operated by DP World Canada, a subsidiary of Dubai-based DP World, which has managed the terminal since 2006. The terminal’s strategic location and advanced facilities make it a vital component of the Port of Vancouver’s operations, contributing to the port’s status as Canada’s largest and most diversified port.
