Trans Canada Trail Foundation Gazebo

A tribute to unity, heritage, and the enduring spirit of Canada. The Trans Canada Trail Foundation Gazebo in Ottawa, also known as the Ottawa–LeBreton Flats Pavilion, stands as a testament to Canada’s commitment to national unity and the celebration of its natural beauty. Located along the Capital Pathway near the Portage Bridge, this pavilion was refurbished in 2017 to commemorate both the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation and the completion of The Great Trail, formerly known as the Trans Canada Trail. The pavilion features Canada 150 colours and information panels that highlight the trail’s significance in connecting communities across the country

The pavilion is situated on the National Capital Commission (NCC) path, easily accessible via Commissioner Street off the Bronson Avenue and Albert Street intersection. It serves as a point of interest for those exploring the Capital Pathway, which stretches over 600 kilometers and links various parks, gardens, museums, and attractions in the Ottawa region . Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride along the pathway, taking in scenic views of the Ottawa River and the surrounding urban landscape.

While the pavilion itself is open to the public year-round, it’s advisable to visit during daylight hours for the best experience. There are no formal opening and closing hours, but the surrounding pathway is accessible at all times. For more information or to plan your visit, you can contact the Trans Canada Trail Foundation at 1-800-465-3636 or visit their official website at tctrail.ca. The pavilion not only honors the donors who contributed to the trail’s creation but also invites all Canadians to reflect on the shared journey that unites the nation.
