The Rio Light Rail (also known as VLT Carioca) will connect the port region of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the city’s financial centre and the Santos Dumont Airport. Services on the new 28km-long light rail system are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016.

VLT Carioca Consortium, comprising Invepar (24.4%), CCR (24.4%), OTP – Odebrecht TransPort (24.4%), Riopar Participações (24.4%), Benito Roggio Transportation (2%) and RATP’s Brazil Operations, was awarded the contract for the development of the light rail system through a public-private partnership (PPP).
