The Tongariro National Trout Centre has played an important role over the years in educating people about trout and raising awareness among the public of the importance of freshwater conservation and the need to create a sustainable fishery resource. The success of the Centre is the embodiment of kiwi ingenuity and commitment through the efforts of many people passionate about trout and the surrounding habitat.
While the local community, volunteers and wider trout fishing fraternity drove new initiatives, development would not have been possible without the generous support of government, philanthropic and commercial partners. The close collaboration of all these groups will continue to be vital to maintain the Centre for coming generations.
