Thorup Strand Beach, Fjerritslev, Northern Denmark Region, Denmark

The coast at Thorupstrand forms a cove between the two limestone coves, Bulbjerg and Svinkløv, which acts as a natural harbor. Until the 19th century, Thorupstrand was therefore an important center for the scrap trade between Denmark and Norway. The township privileges in Denmark meant that the towns had a monopoly on almost all trade but because the coastal towns lacked timber and Norway lacked grain and agricultural products, the coastal towns were allowed to land by shoots or fishing boats on the line between Klitmøller and Løkken.
