Theater am Olgaeck

Founded in September 2004 by Nelly Eichhorn (journalist, dramaturge, director), the theater is committed to international cultural exchange and dialogue. Through ambitious performances of Eastern European plays as well as through readings, exhibitions and song recitals, the theater has earned an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of Stuttgart.
In a short time, a network with artists and political institutions in Eastern Europe was established. Contacts with international partners are maintained and deepened. Theatres from Russia, Poland, Romania and other Eastern European countries bring international color to Stuttgart’s cultural life with their guest appearances. Annual cultural festivals, author readings, films, musical evenings complement the diverse program offer. The varied program offers classic and contemporary, entertaining and demanding for young and old – but always a good piece of theater.

As one of Stuttgart’s youngest stages, the Theater am Olgaeck has developed into a cultural policy platform for contacts and relations with Eastern European countries. The theater program reflects the developments and changes in the new Europe.

We work closely with the theaters and other cultural institutions of the Stuttgart twin cities.
The Theater am Olgaeck has set itself the goal of emphasizing European unity also in theatrical work, developing common cultural activities that understand the art form of theater across language borders as a combination of poetry and the commonality of national identities.
