Heidi Alexander MP was appointed as the Secretary of State for Transport on 29 November 2024. She was previously the Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice from the 8 July 2024 to 29 November 2024. She was elected as the MP for Swindon South in July 2024.
The Secretary of State for Transport
The Secretary of State for Transport also referred to as the Transport Secretary, is a Secretary of State in the Government of the United Kingdom, with overall responsibility for the policies of the Department for Transport. The incumbent is a member of the Cabinet of the United Kingdom, 16th in the ministerial ranking. We work with our agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move. DfT is a ministerial department, supported by 24 agencies and public bodies.
