The Rose Garden, Bern, Switzerland

The Rosengarten is one of the most beautiful parks in the city of Bern and offers a unique view of the old town and the Aareschlaufe. When the weather is fine, the view extends far beyond the city. Thus the Rosengarten is not only a recreation area, but also the perfect hotspot for beautiful reminder photos.

As the name suggests, the park is famous for its splendor including 223 varieties of rose, 200 iris and 28 rhododendron species and can be admired in the Rosengarten and also a magical water lily pond must not be missed.

A pavilion and a reading garden make the Rosengarten a perfect place for relaxation. The restaurant invites you to linger. And even the smallest ones are not too short: children can let off steam in the big playground. The Rosengarten was not always a park: from 1765 to 1877 it served as a cemetery of the lower city. Only since 1913 is the garden a public facility.
