The Retiring Room | An Underground Indian Cocktail Bar, London
Bombay Bustle have opened up a moody, subterranean cocktail bar below their acclaimed Mayfair restaurant, and it’s modelled after the casual lounges at India’s many train stations – a.k.a. retiring rooms. Something that seems all the more appropriate given that the upstairs restaurant is modelled after an actual vintage train carriage, with curving art deco lines and Wes Anderson-esque pastel hues.
Head downstairs, and you’ll find the bar itself sitting at the end of a long room, lined with deep burgundy leather-clad booths, and a warm timber-panelled ceiling. In keeping with the restaurant’s charming aesthetic, they’ve made sure it’s quite pretty too, with nestling it within wine fridges, and lighting it with wrought iron chandeliers.
