The Nymphaeum, Leptis Magna, Libya

The Nymphaeum is beside a colonnaded street built as part of the aggrandisement lavished on the city by Emperor L. Septimius Severus around 200 AD. This colonnaded street leads from the Hadrianic Baths past the southern side of the Severan Forum and on to the harbour is of a kind characteristic of the Roman cities of the Near East.
