The Monument of Tropic of Cancer, Chiayi, Shuishang Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan
The Tropic of Cancer Monument is the position in the Northern Hemisphere and far from the Equator. Every summer at noon time when the sun is shine directly over the Tropic of Cancer will cause the “shadowless” phenomenon at this location.
It is located at ShuiShang Village in Chiayi County. This Monument was first built on the 34th year during the reign of Guang Xu, Qing Dynasty. This monument had been through a series of repairs and the last was rebuilt by the national navy to its present look, after the big earthquake in Chianan Jan 18, 1964. On the North of The Tropic of Cancer Monument is temperate zone, while on the South is tropical zone. This is also a dividing line for agricultural climate as tropical and subtropical climates.
