The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center, Connecticut, USA

Expansive museum of Native American history, with life-sized dioramas & a 16th-century village. The Pequot Museum is committed to transforming how indigenous culture and peoples are represented to accurately portray a next generation Native narrative that gives greater understanding to the evolution of a new Native voice.

How are we doing this? From hosting the first annual Indigenous Fine Art Market on the east coast, to issues of concern right now in Indian Country, to authentic Native cuisine in the café, the Pequot Museum is seeking new ways to collaborate and co-create with Native people and furthering knowledge of Native life today.
Pequot Museum Director Dr. Jason Mancini explains, “We want to offer a broader sense of the vibrancy of Native communities today through art, culinary experiences, storytelling, and current events. New initiatives at the Pequot Museum return us to our goals to inspire knowledge and understanding, not just of Native histories and cultures, but of Native futures.”
