Agenuine “museum of civilisation”, the Fine Arts Museum will take you on a journey from Egypt to the Art Deco period to Islamic art.
On the first floor, 16 rooms lead visitors on a discovery of history across the ancient civilisations: Egypt, Sumer, Cyprus, Greece and the Roman Empire.
Next, there are 17 rooms covering the precious arts and sculpture of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, from Byzantine ivory to a rich collection of Limoges enamel and goldsmith’s art.
A section of Islamic art and a rare collection of Japanese stoneware made for tea ceremonies are followed by the rooms dedicated to Art Nouveau and the Art Deco period.
