Three Graces. Two Liver Birds, One iconic skyline. It can only be the Liverpool Waterfront. The Liverpool Waterfront is one of the most stunning parts of the city, it’s the image you get in your mind when you think of Liverpool. Stand in the middle of Pier Head and look up at the iconic Royal Liver Building, turn around to cast your eyes over the famous River Mersey and look to the left to see the Royal Albert Dock, you’re surrounded by history!

Aside from being awed by the beautiful architecture there is so much to do at Liverpool’s Waterfront. Where do you start? Well now you can dive deeper into the history of the Royal Liver Building on the RLB360 Tour. Opened in 2019, the immersive experience allows you to view our beautiful city from the 15th floor, right underneath one of the Liver Birds! If you fancy doing some sightseeing a bit closer to the ground then you can jump onboard a Ferry ‘cross the Mersey, just like the song suggests. You can’t come to Liverpool without viewing our beautiful city from the water. Enjoy the views from the Dazzle Ferry, designed by Sir Peter Blake – the artist behind the cover of the Beatles’ ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album – in 2015 as part of the Liverpool Biennial, that’s now become a Liverpool icon on the Mersey waters.

If your appetite for The Beatles has been whet on the Ferry then there is still plenty more of the Fab Four to see on Liverpool Waterfront. First, grab a photo with the lads themselves at the Beatles Statue just in front of the Cunard Building. It’s a photo opportunity not to miss. Whilst you’re there, pop inside the British Music Experience to learn all about the history of British music. Obviously, it includes The Beatles, but it also features exhibitions on everyone from Queen, David Bowie, Oasis, Little Mix and the Spice Girls! If that’s not enough then a short walk down to the Royal Albert Dock for a trip to The Beatles Story will really kick off the Beatlemania.

The Beatles Story is the world’s largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to telling the story of The Beatles lives and career. The immersive experience takes you on a journey from the beginning to the height of fame and their personal ventures. From Hamburg to the Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road to the White Room, you can see it all on the audio guided tour.

Whilst you’re at The Royal Albert Dock take the time to explore everything else it has to offer. Aside from the abundance of places to eat and drink there are loads of independent shops and plenty of cultural offerings. There’s Tate Liverpool, where you can explore modern and contemporary art and special exhibitions, The Merseyside Maritime Museum that delves into Liverpool’s seafaring history and the International Slavery Museum that helps to increase the understanding of slavery, both in a historic and contemporary context.

Back at Pier Head you’ll also find the Museum of Liverpool. Built in 2011 to sit alongside the Three Graces, the museum explores how the port, the people and the history of the city has shaped what it is today. They also have regular special exhibitions too which are worth keeping an eye out for.

If you’re all about big events then you’re going to want to follow the M&S Bank Arena to see what they have going on. Find it right in the heart of Liverpool’s Waterfront, a stone’s throw away from the Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool ONE for all your entertainment needs. The arena hosts all sorts of events, from international superstars like Beyonce and Elton John to sporting events like the 2019 Netball World Cup and the 2019 Champions League final (when Liverpool FC won for the sixth time).

For cruise ship fans you’ll love it along the waterfront. At the Liverpool Cruise Terminal a whole host of cruise ships turn up all year round from the Disney Cruise to Cunard. At just a ten minute walk from the city centre it is in the perfect location for cruise goers on their Liverpool stop over
