Sizable, vibrant music venue with shows ranging from punk to indie, with a full bar & outdoor area. Kreuzberg’s Rock-Indie-Electro-Pop living room couch is nestled in the heart of the Wrangelkiez. History is made here. In the 1950s and 60s, Schlesische Straße was the cineaste alley of Kreuzberg. If you wanted to watch Western movies as an East Berliner, you couldn’t avoid LIDO. Then, in the 70s, the establishment, known as “Westside” at the time, set the trend for Rock’n’Roll.
But everything has its time, and in the exciting 80s, the charming building with rounded corners needed a little break and served as a rehearsal space for the Berliner Schaubühne.
A few years ago, the current owners thought enough of idleness and revitalized the old property. Finally, in May 2006, the doors could open again. Since then, LIDO has become one of the city’s important and trendy clubs, especially in Kreuzberg, of course.
Maximo Park, Cocorosie, Sportfreunde Stiller, and the Beatsteaks have already been great and satisfied guests of the house.
The walls of LIDO can tell many stories; always with style.
In May 2006, LIDO opened its doors and quickly became one of Berlin’s most popular venues for concerts and parties. Located in the heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg, the former cinema charms bands and visitors alike. The spacious outdoor area certainly contributes to the good vibes, allowing people to chill alongside the big party.
So, come on over and let’s kick off the party!
