The Falstad Centre Museum, Ekne, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway

The Falstad Centre in Levanger is the Norwegian Memorial and Human Rights Centre. There is a permanent museum exhibition, as well as temporary exhibitions. You will find a large collection of photographs from the war years and the initial period after the liberation.
The exhibition “Ansikt til ansikt” (Face to face) was opened in the autumn of 2006. Text, objects, sound and pictures convey the history of the Falstad concentration camp and the fate of the Prisoners of War, the Nazi camp system, Nazism and genocide. The exhibition also shows how World War II had implications for the future through the creation of the UN and the emergence of the modern human rights.

The centre shows several changing exhibitions annually – loaned and self-produced exhibitions, art exhibitions and historical exhibitions, with thematic connection to Falstad as a place and to the centre’s field of expertice: the history of Prisoners Of War, remembrance culture and human rights.
