The Crooked House of Windsor, also known as Market Cross House, is an iconic, gravity-defying building located near Windsor Castle. Originally built in 1592, it was initially a straightforward structure until a reconstruction in 1687 using unseasoned green oak, causing the building to lean and earn its “crooked” nickname.
Over the centuries, it has served various purposes, including as a butcher shop, tea room, antique shop, and brewery. The building has seen numerous transformations in business and color, yet it remains one of Windsor’s most photographed landmarks. Today, it operates as a bar and bottle shop called The Shambles
