Terminus Tramway Madinat Al Irfane

The total length of the Tram network operated by two lines is approximately 20 km with 31 stations. This is line 1 known as the “structuring line of the agglomeration”. It extends from Hay Karima to Salé to the “Madinat Al irfane” university campus in Rabat, via Agdal, with a route passing through the city center thus connecting the major emitter / attractor poles of the agglomeration, the university sites (Bab Al Irfane) and hospital in Souissi. As for line 2, it serves the dense districts of the Ocean in Rabat and Bettana in Salé via the old medina.

This tramway for Morocco is the first that to be built in North Africa. It comprises two lines connecting the capital, Rabat, to the district of Salé, along with a maintenance and stabling facility. The complete network will consist of four lines, with two crossings over the Bouregreg river. The first two lines, totalling 20 km and serving 32 stations, were opened in May 2011. The Group started off assisting the Contracting Authority with the design and construction phases of the Rabat-Salé tram network, before being awarded the Project Management for the extension in build. The network transports 32 million passengers per year and Line 2 will be extended 7 km by 2019
