Tchaikovsky House-Museum in Klin, Klin, Moscow Oblast, Russia

In the very first days after the death of Tchaikovsky, his younger brother, a well-known playwright, translator, and librettist, arose the idea of keeping the Klin house intact and creating a museum of the great Russian composer there. Implement this plan helped him: heir to Tchaikovsky’s copyright, his nephew VL Davydov and AI Sofronov, the servant of the composer and heir of his property. In 1897 MI Tchaikovsky and VL Davydov settled in Klin. Not wanting to violate the memoriality of the composer’s private rooms, they made an extension to the house and settled there.

The appearance of the extension – the cabinet of Modest Ilyich, the room of Vladimir Lvovich and the small reception room with wicker furniture – differs significantly from the rooms occupied by the composer. The walls and ceiling are lined with pine boards and decorated with false carving made by the Klin masters-cabinetmakers.
