Targa per Lord Byron

A commemorative plaque honoring Lord Byron is situated in Piazza San Francesco, Ravenna, Italy, marking the poet’s profound connection to the city where he resided from 1819 to 1821. During this period, Byron lived in Palazzo Guiccioli, the residence of his beloved, Countess Teresa Gamba Guiccioli. Here, he composed significant works such as “Cain,” “Marino Faliero,” “Sardanapalus,” “The Two Foscari,” portions of “Don Juan,” and “The Prophecy of Dante.”

Following extensive restorations, Palazzo Guiccioli has been transformed into the Byron Museum, inaugurated on November 29, 2024. Located at Via Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour, 54, 48121 Ravenna RA, Italy, the museum offers visitors an immersive experience into Byron’s life, showcasing original editions, personal artifacts, and multimedia installations that narrate his time in Ravenna.
