Su’a Hellene Wallwork

Su’a Hellene Wallwork, who has held the position of Attorney General since September 2021. She has a distinguished legal career spanning over two decades. Educated at the University of Auckland, Wallwork has worked in both New Zealand and Samoa. She returned to Samoa in 2013 and co-founded a law firm with her husband. Wallwork has served in various legal roles, including as Sweden’s Honorary Consul in Samoa, and she has twice been elected President of the Samoa Law Society.

Wallwork became Attorney General following the dismissal of her predecessor amid political turmoil. Her responsibilities include advising the government on legal matters and overseeing the criminal justice system in Samoa. The office is constitutionally mandated and plays a critical role in the legal and governmental landscape of the country

Attorney General

The mission of the Attorney General in Samoa is to provide independent legal advice to the government, represent the state in legal matters, and uphold the rule of law in all aspects of public administration. The office ensures that laws are properly enforced and interpreted, fostering justice and good governance throughout Samoa. Through this, the Attorney General protects the rights of Samoan citizens and maintains the integrity of the legal system.
