Stone Bridge, Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France

The Pont de Pierre connects Bordeaux’s right bank to the left bank and is the link between the esplanade and the Sainte-Marie-de-la-Bastide church.

Construction on this famous bridge commissioned by Napoleon I ended in 1822.
These days, the tram goes from bank to bank along this bridge.

The Pont de Pierre is within the Unesco registered world heritage area. This area is really quite vast and covers 1,810 of the total 4,455 hectares of the city.

This size makes Bordeaux the first urban area to be awarded world heritage status by Unesco for such a broad and complex area since its inception in 1976.

This mosaic of districts with such distinctive identities ensures the urban continuity of the city and continues to charm its visitors.
