The Stawamus Chief Trail offers a challenging hike with stunning views. The Stawamus Chief Trail, commonly known as “The Chief,” is a renowned hiking destination located in Stawamus Chief Provincial Park near Squamish, British Columbia. This prominent granite dome offers hikers a challenging ascent with rewarding panoramic views of Howe Sound, the surrounding mountains, and the town of Squamish. The trail is divided into three main peaks: First Peak (610 meters), Second Peak (655 meters), and Third Peak (702 meters). Each summit provides unique perspectives and varying levels of difficulty.

The hike to First Peak is approximately 4 kilometers round trip and typically takes 3 to 4 hours to complete. Second Peak extends the journey to about 5 kilometers, requiring 4 to 5 hours, while Third Peak adds up to 7 kilometers, with an estimated duration of 5 to 7 hours. The trails are steep and rugged, with sections equipped with chains and ladders to assist hikers. Due to the challenging nature of the hike, it’s recommended for individuals with a good level of fitness and prior hiking experience.
