The Governor State Dinning Rooms

The State Dining Room with all its decorations is magnificent and to see the 1876 dining table of red cedar and Spanish mahogany, the centre piece of the room, made out ready for dinner with all the dinner plates and cutlery all just perfectly in place. Poached Strawberries with White Chocolate Mouse and Almond Biscuit, Passionfruit Sauce. Table sits 54 people, and I looked out for my name tag but sadly, it was nowhere to be found. By the way, it takes the Governor’s staff approximatrely 4 hours to set the State Dining Room table for 54 guests for a State Dinner of course the State Dining Room is used by the Governor to host dinner on major state occasions such as visits by members of the Royal Family or foreign heads of state.

The Governor and spouse traditionally sit opposite each other at the centre of the table. Famous people to have sat at the banquet table in the State Dining Room include Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Diana, Princess of Wales, Hillary Rodham Clinton and countless Heads of State.
