Stand-up paddling

Stand-Up Paddling, or SUP, epitomizes a captivating leisure experience combined with holistic full-body training that enhances strength, endurance, and coordination. Embark on a “stroll” over the waters of the Main River and behold the breathtaking Frankfurt skyline.

The beauty of SUP lies in its accessibility; one need not be a surfer to immediately enjoy the experience, and neither wind nor waves are prerequisites. With its longer board and greater volume compared to a standard surfboard, SUP gracefully navigates calm waters, making it suitable for any body of water. From the serene Starnberger See to the bustling Hamburger HafenCity or the crashing waves off Sylt’s shores, enthusiastic SUP enthusiasts are already found everywhere, with the fan base continually expanding.

This emerging trend sport holds particular allure for fitness enthusiasts as it offers an attractive addition to their training regimen. Whether utilized as an efficient workout or an opportunity to commune with nature while paddling past, SUP hones balance and engages major muscle groups such as legs, core, back, and arms. Furthermore, the act of maintaining balance contributes to mental equilibrium.

Matthias Larsen, a fitness trainer at the Hamburger Kaifu-Lodge, extols the virtues of SUP: “Anyone who steps onto a SUP board is captivated by the fun and the natural experience. It’s easier than it looks, especially when starting on calm waters.” Even the German national football team has taken to the boards with paddles off the coasts of Sicily to prepare for the World Cup.
